Obama to select VP

Obama is expected to select his running mate any day now. Speculation is swirling around the top candidates including Joe Biden, Evan Bayh, Tim Kaine and Bill Richardson. The smart money is on Obama picking Biden, a senator from Delaware, because of his foreign policy experience over guys like Bayh and Kaine, who are not quite as seasoned. Obama would certainly get a boost in Indiana (Bayh's home state) and Virginia (Kaine's stomping grounds), but that doesn't necessarily translate to turning the state blue. Edwards didn't help Kerry win North Carolina in 2004, so I don't think that strategy works. My money is on Biden, even though I curse Delaware every time I pass through since they charge about $25 worth of tolls.
